Week 17 Cyborg Among Us

This weeks project, though the week is at an end, is for my Bobobie sculpt Elena. Her name is Paradox and she is an SD sized bjd appx. 60cm tall. Her body is kinda cylinder-ish not the most attractive, but I thought it would be perfect for my Cyborg project. I chose her for this weeks project because I'm hoping to get to a photostory that she has a small part in so I figured what better then have her for the Resin Weekly Blog. She has a bit more work to be done with the other hands I have for her that need some type of blushing. If I have time on Sunday I may attempt to do that as well. Anyway so lets introduce Paradox.

This is a photo of when I first got Paradox a few years ago before I sent her out for a faceup last year..I decided on a cyborg kinda thing for her like I said because of the construction of her body and also she just has this kind of blank stare look going on.
And this is a more recent photo taken in January of this year with her new faceup...kinda wishing I had kept that outfit..ah well I can always make something similar. So my idea for her is kind of an anime look with some type of body/catsuit. I haven't entirely decided on colors as going through my fabric supplies I didn't see anything that just jumped out at me...I'd really like to go with maybe a metallic looking blue, with some black or white.

So the first order of business is making a pattern for the body/catsuit...what I ended up doing was taking a pattern I'd already made for a pair of knit leggings and a knit top and taped the pieces together. Using my human scaled catsuit pattern that I have I came up with a pretty good base pattern. To test it out I just used some scrap knit fabric in a nice coral color and it was a success! I had to take in the sides a bit but this is what I came up with:
Er...ignore the little kitty girl she decided to photo bomb..lol. So here is the mockup. I notice several things, one I should have used coral colored thread so she could have this outfit for her own as well, stupid white thread (Thankfully I have more of the fabric I can make another one). Second and really noticeable is I do believe I'm going to have to take some sand paper to her bust, those nipples are just ridiculous..lol. Other than that the fit is really perfect. I think she'll need some kind of detailing to make her body look less straight like maybe a  waist cincher or something else around the waist. We shall see. I have the rest of today and part of tomorrow to work further on it. Then I'll replace her hands, blushed if I have time and post more photos of the progress and finished project on Sunday.

Design concept photos: (If my scanner was working, I'd scan in my sketches.

Update 4/28/13 Completed Project:
I decided to just use fabrics that I had at home since I didn't have any extra time to be running to the fabric store. I had quite a few selections that I was considering one being a pink panne velvet with some blue sport mesh. Due to running out of time to complete this weeks project I decided to go just with a sold blue that I will eventually maybe add some details like a sash or waist cincher. The pink and blue will have to be done at another time, but I'll be sure to update some photos here on my Blogger.
I think the blue turned out wonderful and compliments her face really well, and of course I had to put her pink tennis shoes back on..lol. As you can also see I changed her wig, I think this is a really nice sleek look that looks more streamlined/modern and perfect for a cyborg. I replaced her hands as well that you can kinda see in the right photo. I can't recall what company they are from as I bought them second hand but they have some nice circuitry details on them. I am hoping to try and get them blushed maybe next weekend when I'll be meeting with a friend for some faceup fun.

One last photo, a kinda sneak peek at my photostory that I'll be uploading onto DOA (Den of Angels) sometime this week.
Paradox sitting with my steampunk elf girl Audryme in her workshop, who has just put Paradox back together, she is quite crafty.

Thanks for viewing and I should be putting up some details later this afternoon for Week 18 doll project.

Week 16 Chicken Girl has Returned

Alright so a few days ago I posted up the photos of my little chicken girl and some information about what kind of chicken I chose as inspiration for her to be, and I sent her off to a local artist. First of all before I move on to the photos: Thank you soooo much Emma for such a fabulous job on the faceup and blushing of my Impldoll Greta; Amaryllis Buttercup. She is just beyond cute I very, very happy with the way she looks, she is perfect!

So on my way to my performance last night (Saturday) I picked up my little girl and squee I wish I could have just taken  her home right then and play with her and take some photos, but no time so this afternoon I took her out of her little bag and took a few photos and then decided instead of wasting the afternoon playing World of Warcraft (time for that later) I decided to take her up to the sewing room and make her a new outfit and wig...tee hee...she is the most adorable girl ever!

Before                                                                         After

As I said I decided the wig just wasn't her anymore so I wanted to make a new one. I was thinking a butterscotch color or something close to the tawny down of the chicks. After looking through my faux fur scraps I decided on a nice feather look that had that nice tawny under color and some dark stripes. And of course she just demanded a new cuter outfit so she didn't look like a country bumpkin..lol.

Sooo on to the photos:

She just had to wear the butterfly wings for some of the photos..lol..she is going to be a spoiled little princess for sure.  I made the dress she is wearing, its actually 2 pieces pretty much a underdress and overskirt of shorts. The overskirt is made from a recycled shirt, it matched the ruched coral/peach pretty well. She has leggings as well but I didn't get a good picture of them. (Wings are from a My Scene Barbie set)
I had some random little jewelry pieces that worked well wit the outfit. The top of the dress as you can see in a close up here is a ruched style in peachy tones. Look at those freckles!!!

Here you can see some nice shots of not only her adorable freckles on her face but also the scattering of freckles on her shoulders and back. The color and detail of the wig can be seen her as well, if you take a look back at the post earlier this week you can see the color matches pretty well to the down of the Buttercup Chicken.

A nice photo of her legs that were done in the fashion of the Buttercup in a willowy green..I really love the details and the color. You can also kinda see here leggings peeping out at the hem of her underdress.

And one last photo of her looking all cute in her new outfit and matching hat. She is ready for some summer tea party fun!

Thanks for viewing, now that I'll have a little more free time I'll be moving right along with the next weeks doll project.

Week 16 Away at the Faceup Spa

So this is the last week for my insane creative endeavor of designing some costumes for my myself as the show is this Saturday...so...I should be able to get back on track with these weekly blogs. And speaking of week 16 is for my little chicken girl Amarylis Buttercup, she is currently at the spa getting made up..lol.

Since I haven't had much time I decided to have someone else do a faceup and some blushing on her, can't wait to see her completed, which should be at the end of the week and she is local so I can just drive by and pick her up..so excited!

So as I said my little girls name is Amarylis Buttercup, you'll soon find out about her name, she is a Impldoll Greta in the YoSD size she arrived with my 2 deer/centaurs last year.
She has fantasy feet, hands and a little tail (that I didn't have a chance to take a photo of). Her ears are shaped differently and her lips are almost in a pucker. I'm not yet certain if I'll be keeping her in the wig she is wearing. The clothes are just temporary I got them off of some random doll I found at a thrift shop. So as I said she is supose to be a little chicken, so I did a little research into chickens and I came across the Sicilian Buttercup:

This is a little chick sooo adorable. I think the skin color of my doll goes well with this little fuzzy critter.
And the grown up hen. I chose this breed for my doll for several reasons, the  #1 being its coloring and spots, I'm a sucker for spotted animals..lol.

A few fun facts about this breed:
The Buttercup chicken derives its name from the combination of unique comb shape and the golden buff color of the hen’s plumage. The comb of the Buttercup chicken is actually two single-combs that merge in front over the beak, as well as at the back. The combination on the best specimens forms a cup-shaped “crown” – that is, a cup surmounted by regularly spaced medium-sized points. Imperfectly formed Buttercup chicken combs appear akin to a pair of antlers.
In color, the Buttercup rooster is a rich reddish orange with a black tail. The hen is golden buff with regularly marked black spangles, oval in shape, positioned in parallel rows. The black sections of both male and female are a lustrous greenish black in color. Both male and female have yellow skin; white ear lobes; reddish bay eyes; light horn-colored beak; and willow-green shanks and toes with the bottom of the feet yellow. With cup-shaped comb, resembling a flower blossom, golden buff plumage, and willow green shanks and toes, it is easy to see how this breed has also earned the nickname of “Flowerbird.”

So back to her name Amaryllis Buttercup...naturally Buttercup is derived from the breed of the chicken, and amusingly enough also the name of the girl in Princess Bride, and Princesses where crowns..lol. The first part of her name obviously is after the  flower:
The red Amaryllis in particular just reminded me of the crown of the chicken and green and yellow of the inside of the flower just pick up that sense of the same coloring as their feet. Believe it or not I actually came up with the name Amaryllis before I read the facts on the chicken breed and then after reading it and finding out they were know as Flowerbird I knew the name was perfect.

As for the look I'm going for her she is going to be my girly girl princess...so something sweet, natural, yet sassy. Something that will pick up some of the colors of the chicken, which is why for now I chose the honey blonde color of her wig. Well that is it for the description part...I'll post more photos when she is complete.

Week 15 Doll Project Solidarity!

Unfortunetly I had to skip a few weeks due to some pressing design obligations this week though I thought I'd do a short post on International Scarves in Solidarity. What does this mean? Well here is the link to the event on facebook https://www.facebook.com/events/142371509268637/145370972302024/?notif_t=plan_mall_activity

I'll just place the description of the event word for word:
International Scarves in Solidarity is an opportunity for individuals all over the world to show support and solidarity to Muslim women who wear the Hijab/Niqab by choice. This event hopes to spread awareness about the hijab/niqab and negate any misconceptions.

In order to participate in this event—anyone from any background should simply wear a scarf around their neck for the day. Any willing females (due to respect) should wear the scarf around their head.

Islamophobia—the fear and misunderstanding of Islam—is a phenomenon that is unfortunately a reality in the world today. The hijab/niqab is a visible way that many Muslim women have chosen to express their faith. As a result, many will face misunderstanding, discrimination, prejudice, and hate-crimes. International Scarves in Solidarity is an opportunity for Muslims and Non-Muslims alike to show their solidarity with hijabi/niqabi Muslim women in their struggle.

International Scarves in Solidarity hopes to initiate a respectful and progressive dialogue. Due to the many misconceptions prominent in societies all over the world, the hijab/niqab has been commonly misunderstood on multiple levels. Unfortunately, many people believe that the hijab/niqab is a form of oppression. The truth is that the decision to wear the hijab/niqab is intended for Muslim women to make for their selves.

At the very core, International Scarves in Solidarity upholds the notion that all women should be granted freedom of expression and religion in society without fear of harassment. Moreover, no public or private institution should be able to regulate laws that intervene with this basic freedom.

Finally, this event is NOT meant to simulate the experiences of hijabi/niqabi women. Hijab/Niqabi women face a struggle that will never be understood throughout just ONE day of wearing the hijab. Again, this day is intended for awareness, dialogue, and solidarity purposes.

So not only did I myself participate by wearing a scarf around my head but I also placed one on one of my dolls Keiyoko and took her to work with me. I was really thankful for a friend sending me and invite to this event, it was a nice eye opener and anything to spread the word about humans rights and choice in this world. Though I received a few strange glances that made me wonder what they were thinking, I can only imagine what someone of the muslim faith must feel on a daily basis. I suprisingly did not have anyone question why I was wearing one though, so most people must have had more respect for my choice then what I had originally thought so bravo to those that met my choice, though for a day, with acceptance.

Spread the word and the love that each person has rights to choice what faith they follow, what they choice to wear, and no one should be stripped of those rights. Stay Strong!
