Week 1 Project Runway Challenge 15

Starting off Week 1 is my EID Iplehouse Luna Tamer girl that I have tentatively named Zahara. (Technically it is week 3 of the New Year but I got a late start.)

The project for this beautiful girl is to create a winter outfit..that I am creating for a  Project Runway fun little challenge on the doll forum Den of Angels. The challenge is called Walking in a Winter Wonderland" and the concept is:

 A major fashion house has hired you to create a casual outfit for their winter/fall lineup. You are given the option of designing for the men's, women's or children's department. Your creation will be featured in a runway show and then sold in a high end department store. The emphasis of this challenge is design, fabric tecture and color. Your outfit cannot be holiday themed.

Rules:

Your outfit must consist of three pieces, such as pants/slack/skirt, shirt/blouse, vest/sweater, jacket/coat/bolero, dress, etc.

You must use three different fabrics with three different textures. One of the fabrics must be an in scale print/stripe/check/plaid/polka dot/etc. 

So those are the basics for the challenge. I'll be posting up a fashion board with sketches and inspiration very soon. The hardest part in this challenge for me is finding the right fabrics.

 2013 hard to believe it has only been 3 years since I've been in this hobby. My collection has grown extensively, more than I expected or anticipated. Not my first doll collection that is for sure, but my most prized collection that I am proud of since I created them as individuals with a certain style, personality and pizzazz that is their own. Which brings me to the begining of why I am starting this blog. Everyday I'm continually viewing the social network, posting comments, posts and what not on Facebook, Den of Angels and perusing Ebay for new doll stuff. The internet has soaked up so much of my time before, during and after work that years later I find that some of my dolls are not complete. They don't have the proper wig that I had in mind for their character, the proper clothes that he/she would wear and/or a blank face staring back at me.

Like most individuals I'm like hmmm why not have a resolution, how about of completing my dolls this year, so hence this blog. So here is my idea since I have alot of dolls I thought why not write down all my dolls by size, determine what needs to be still done with them if anythiing and work on one by one. With a large collection it can get pretty overwelming so I definitely need to do a step by step progression if I ever hope to complete them all. Some weeks may allow more than one doll, if its something simple that needs to be done or if I have more time that week versus another. I truly think this is going to be a very fun project, it will keep me inspired and motivated to keep going. I hope you will enjoy this journey with me.

I'm not going to include a list of dolls that need clothing as this would be a mighty loooong list so I won't even go through each I'll just document when it comes to that week. All of my dolls have clothing to wear its just a matter of them wearing the clothing that is right for their character...so nope no no dollies running around nakid here..lol. And the same goes for restringing and hot glue sueding, most of my dolls could benefit from both so maybe one week will specifically be a restringing/sueding fiasco.
