Since I haven't had much time I decided to have someone else do a faceup and some blushing on her, can't wait to see her completed, which should be at the end of the week and she is local so I can just drive by and pick her up..so excited!
So as I said my little girls name is Amarylis Buttercup, you'll soon find out about her name, she is a Impldoll Greta in the YoSD size she arrived with my 2 deer/centaurs last year.
She has fantasy feet, hands and a little tail (that I didn't have a chance to take a photo of). Her ears are shaped differently and her lips are almost in a pucker. I'm not yet certain if I'll be keeping her in the wig she is wearing. The clothes are just temporary I got them off of some random doll I found at a thrift shop. So as I said she is supose to be a little chicken, so I did a little research into chickens and I came across the Sicilian Buttercup:
This is a little chick sooo adorable. I think the skin color of my doll goes well with this little fuzzy critter.
And the grown up hen. I chose this breed for my doll for several reasons, the #1 being its coloring and spots, I'm a sucker for spotted animals..lol.
A few fun facts about this breed:
The Buttercup chicken derives its name from the combination of unique comb shape and the golden buff color of the hen’s plumage. The comb of the Buttercup chicken is actually two single-combs that merge in front over the beak, as well as at the back. The combination on the best specimens forms a cup-shaped “crown” – that is, a cup surmounted by regularly spaced medium-sized points. Imperfectly formed Buttercup chicken combs appear akin to a pair of antlers.
In color, the Buttercup rooster is a rich reddish orange with a black tail. The hen is golden buff with regularly marked black spangles, oval in shape, positioned in parallel rows. The black sections of both male and female are a lustrous greenish black in color. Both male and female have yellow skin; white ear lobes; reddish bay eyes; light horn-colored beak; and willow-green shanks and toes with the bottom of the feet yellow. With cup-shaped comb, resembling a flower blossom, golden buff plumage, and willow green shanks and toes, it is easy to see how this breed has also earned the nickname of “Flowerbird.”
So back to her name Amaryllis Buttercup...naturally Buttercup is derived from the breed of the chicken, and amusingly enough also the name of the girl in Princess Bride, and Princesses where crowns..lol. The first part of her name obviously is after the flower:
The red Amaryllis in particular just reminded me of the crown of the chicken and green and yellow of the inside of the flower just pick up that sense of the same coloring as their feet. Believe it or not I actually came up with the name Amaryllis before I read the facts on the chicken breed and then after reading it and finding out they were know as Flowerbird I knew the name was perfect.
As for the look I'm going for her she is going to be my girly girl princess...so something sweet, natural, yet sassy. Something that will pick up some of the colors of the chicken, which is why for now I chose the honey blonde color of her wig. Well that is it for the description part...I'll post more photos when she is complete.
